A brown-phase Black Bear (ursus americanus) makes his way across a slope of lichen-covered rocks on a rainy day in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States.

My family and I spotted this beautiful brown-phase black bear making his way along the Madison River looking for food. Eventually he came to an area where a rock slide had come right to the water, and began carefully walking across the slide. I thought he looked so cool against all the grey, lichen-covered rocks and kept hoping he would look up for a picture. He did, and I managed to get this shot before he scrambled off the rocks. I really like all the triangles in the picture and how you can see his claws.
